What is your favourite/most inspiring quote?
“The truth is everyone is going to hurt you. You just have to find ones worth suffering for.” – Bob Marley. I clearly must have been going through something, but it stuck with me and it is something I live by as it’s so true!
What does empowerment mean to you?
For me it’s being given or finding your own opportunities to have control of your life, and using them to make a powerful and positive difference.
What part of your body do you love the most?
I’m not sure about favourite but as a whole, I do love my body. It’s taken a while to get to the self love stage, but I wouldn’t change a thing!
What is your favourite quality about your personality?
The ability to laugh at myself – I do silly things! This also helps when you make a joke and the rare occasions when no one else gets it, it helps if I’m at least laughing!
When you were growing up, can you remember becoming aware of what you looked like? Were you influenced by anything in particular?
Yes! If I got a spot on my face I would melt! I remember putting TCP on my face which did not end pretty. But I learnt my lesson, and I realised that there’s more to life then how you look. What’s in the magazines isn’t even a models’ reality. When I was taking how I look too seriously, my mum was a big influence in bringing me back down to earth and I thank her for that.
What insecurities have you overcome which were at one stage holding you back?
I used to be very insecure about my boobs. I wanted to get a reduction when I was in high school as people always used to say how big they were compared to the rest of my body, which to some may have been a compliment but to me made me very self conscious!
Who do you look up to and why?
That’s a tough one, there’s so many people for so many reasons. In my family definitely my mum, grandmother and sister – they’re confident, know themselves and always strive to be better women.
What advice would you like to share with other women?
I would say to learn to love yourself and get to know yourself. When you do that, it doesn’t matter what anyone has to say, you will now be happy with the wonderful woman you are or are becoming.
If you could give advice to your 12 year old self, what would you tell her?
It’s gonna be tough but keep going, keep your ambition, keep your positivity and overall be happy and confident within yourself!
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Eating mostly! Haha, but I love going to the gym, blogging/vlogging…going on holiday and shopping. The list is endless!
